The Plan
Ok, I still have this mantis shrimp. It is believed to have murdered four of the five starter fish I put in the tank. I know he hides in the rocks so here's the plan.
First I will fill an extra 20 gallon long tank with water from the tank. Next I will slowly move one rock at a time from the tank to the 20 gallon tank. I will make sure to pull the live rock out first and the base rock out last. If I am lucky, the mantis will leave the live rock hide in one base rocks. Then I will move all of the base rock into buckets. Next I will move the live rock back into the tank and try to isolate the base rock that the mantis is hiding in. if push comes to shove, I will dip the base rock in fresh water to drive the mantis out.
I wish it didn't come to this but it has. I really do not want to kill the little guy but I also don't want to fish knowing that he is going to kill them. I also cannot add corals because it will just make it harder to catch him without stressing the corals. I hope this will work, wish me luck!
